Managing Change

Managing change

"Nothing is certain in life except death and taxes" as Benjamin Franklin wisely mused, and yet we try to resist change, thinking we can keep things just the way they are ad infinitum. Resistance to change is a common reaction, most due to our vision of the future being a more frightening and uncomfortable picture than we have about the past and present.
Resistance to change can be damaging for both the individual - stress, conflict, illness, fear and confusion, and the organisation - delayed deadlines for change, extra staff time spent on briefings/persuasion, management stress, sabotaged plans, lack of commitment going forward, staff turnover, recruitment costs…

It is possible to learn to be more open to change, to have a positive attitude to whatever life brings and to let go of old patterns of behaviour, ways of working or attitudes and embrace the new. This course gives people the opportunity to become aware of their own attitudes to new and uncertain situations, improve their ability to handle them and assist others in becoming more comfortable with change.

What delegates can look forward to:

· Awareness of psychological reactions to change
· Effective ways of dealing with resistance
· Developing skills in assisting people to change
· Developing plans for encouraging or assisting organisational change
· Learning personally effective ways of handling change

What organisations can look forward to:

· Easier transitions towards new initiatives
· Completing new initiatives and strategies within timescales
· Avoidance of difficulties usually experienced when staff are resistant to change
· Energised and motivated staff
· Increased creativity and productivity

Creating Dynamic Teams

Creating dynamic teams

When is a team not a team?
Do you have a group of people doing separate jobs, in no way connected to each other but sitting in the same office?
Is that a team?
Do you have a group of people who don't sit in the same place but whose roles are inter dependant?
Is that a team?
Does it matter? If it is important that they communicate well with each other then it matters - they do need to work as a team.

When people work together there is a potential for great creativity, productiveness and support, of course there is also the potential for miscommunication, cliques, isolation, conflict and demotivation. Whether they work in the same room or different ends of the county and rarely meet together, if the well being of the team culture is important then helping people to work together more effectively is worth it's weight in gold.

This course can be delivered for whole teams as a team event or for managers who want to focus developing skills in creating dynamic teams

What delegates can look forward to:

· Develop an understanding of own and other's styles when working in teams
· Experience skill development live on the course to enhance team relationships and effective working
· To develop positive ways of dealing with differences and using this to enhance the team
· Create dynamic team visions for future success

What organisations can look forward to:

· Effective, dynamic teams
· More productive, proactive working
· Troubleshooting, solution oriented team players
· Tasks assigned to right person first time leading to -
· Effective project management
· Quality results
· Satisfied team members
